Peter Aird

Peter Aird has 35 years’ experience as an oilfield drilling, well engineering and operations specialist. His initial training served as marine an engineer with major shipping companies. Peter then transferred skills to the oil and gas industry with initial 15 years with Shell International and BP as a drilling supervisory and then in various global supervisory and engineering consultancy positions from 1992-2005.

Since 1980, he has supervised and engineering the drilling of oil and gas wells globally in new frontier exploration, appraisal and development areas. His project experience was gained in early offshore UK deepwater and HPHT wells, and exploration in North America, South East Asia, Norway, the Black Sea, Europe and West Africa.

From 2006-2011, Peter was employed in onshore Senior Specialist engineering and drilling roles with major UK drilling operating Kerr McGee, Maersk, Marathon Oil UK and Cairn Energy. His expertise further refined on a variety of subsea, horizontal, platform in-fill, HPHT, and partner-related deepwater drilling projects.

Peter Aird holds an MSC in Drilling Engineering from The Robert Gordon University is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and is a Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council. He actively participates in several industry forums. Peter has further shared and further developed his drilling knowledge and experience thorough developing and  delivering training and producing technical and operational treatises on oil well design, construction, engineering and drilling operations from 1998.
