Professor Andrea Moscariello

Andrea Moscariello has 20 years’ experience in the E&P industry and since 2011 is full professor of Reservoir Geology and Basin Analysis at the University of Geneva (CH) where he leads a team of 15 researchers working on a variety of geo-energy academic and applied projects.

Andrea holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Geneva, (Switzerland). After a Post Doc at the US Geological Survey in Denver, Andrea joined Shell UK E&P in 1997 working as development and exploration geologist in the North Sea.

From 2002 to 2007 Andrea was first subsurface business consultant within Shell E&P International and worked on several projects worldwide ranging from new venture set up, exploration and hydrocarbon maturation of both green and brown fields.  Andrea was then appointed global technical expert for clastic reservoirs in the Shell Technical Center for Integrated Reservoir Modelling (Rijswijk, NL).

From 2007 to 2010 he was with SGS Horizon E&P consultancy firm as Reservoir Geology Manager then Business Development and Technical Director.

Since his appointment at the University of Geneva (CH) he is now focusing on applied research programs keeping strong ties with the industry.

Andrea is member of the Executive Committee of the AAPG European Region and is an active member of the EAGE Research Committee and Chairman of the Industry Liaison Panel of ECORD.

He authored and co-authored more than 85 scientific papers and technical reports.

 

Training experience: During his employment in Shell, Andrea participated in teaching programs at the Shell’s Training Center (Production Geology, Geology for Reservoir Engineers) and was appointed visiting lecturer at the University of Cambridge (UK). He was later teaching the courses of Production Geology and Reservoir Geological Modeling and Characterization course at TU Delft (The Netherlands). Since his appointment at the University of Geneva he teaches Reservoir Geology and Characterization, Seismic Interpretation, Integrated Sedimentary Basin Analysis and From Play Evaluation to Field Development. Since 2012 he teaches at the ENI Corporate University the course of Seismic interpretation applied to Petroleum Systems.
